Sorry about the site being down most of the day today. Sometime last night the load on the server skyrocketed. This morning I managed to do enough to get the load down, but all the memory was gone and it was into most of swap. Over time, with the load down, the site would have healed itself, but I didn't want to wait -- so I rebooted. It never came back up.

The server is now running off my host's recovery mode. Everything is fully functional, but it's not the way I'd like it done obviously. I'm going to leave it like this through at least this weekend, and I'll post a scheduled time for me to try a reboot again.

In the meantime, you may see the maintenance page off and on as I try and keep a handle on the load.

Update: I'm going to take the site down in about half an hour (10:30 AM Pacific Time) to reconfigure some swap space. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. Afterwards, we'll still be in the recovery mode, and will probably stay that way until Monday.

Update: And we're back.

Update: I plan on taking the server down for a reboot tomorrow at 10:00 9:00 am Pacific Time. Hopefully it won't be down long. And then I'll look at upgrading my server.

Update: Ok, we're back to "normal" now. Should take a little while for the caches to even out -- until then the site might be slow in fits and starts.
