oh hey. it's been a long time.

i just got this new cooking magazine that has a really nice format, so i made a template inspired by it. it's really simple, hence the name. as usual, it was originally for diaryland, but it works well as a blogger skin, too.

info

- navi skin

- comments enabled (they will be inline, only visible on the post page, unless you choose pop-up or disable them altogether)

- blog post author comments are styled differently than regular comments

- post titles are permalinks

- will function identically in all major browsers (tested in ie8, mff, chrome, safari, and opera). looks slightly different in ie; ie ignores table-cell so your navi text will not be vertically centered.

- nice embedded font for variety.

- will look fine in the most common screen resolutions. the design is fluid so it will adjust to fit your screen.

- code is commented pretty clearly so you can easily find and change whatever you're looking for.

- this skin is best for those who don't use a cbox, as its faulty code causes some sizing issues in the navi area.

preview error makes it look like poop-a-doop, so temp live preview is here, and permanent live preview is here.

please be respectful and leave the credits on.

my boyfriend's commute to and from work is super long. even though we live together, sometimes he'll get home so late that i feel like we don't even get to spend any time together (he has to go to bed early so he can get up early). every day he comes home and i greet him saying, "i missed you." he asks, "why would you miss me?" and i answer, "i always miss you," because i do. i love him too much for words.

i made this skin for myself, for diaryland, but since it came out so pretty i decided to convert it to blogger. i think it looks best with one post per page, and few to no pictures if you can help it. it helps convey that austere, lonely feeling i was going for.

info

- navi skin

- comments enabled (they will be inline, only visible on the post page, unless you choose pop-up or disable them altogether)

- blog post author comments are styled differently than regular comments

- post titles are permalinks

- will function identically in all major browsers (tested in ie8, mff, chrome, safari, and opera). looks slightly different in ie; the box where the navi content shows up sticks to the bottom of the navi buttons, but it's not horrible.

- will look fine in the most common screen resolutions

- code is commented pretty clearly so you can easily find and change whatever you're looking for.

- almost forgot! the header font is embedded via an external stylesheet. you can use it wherever you like, just like any other font, by declaring "WindsongRegular" in your font-family.

preview error, as usual. permanent live preview is here, and the temp live on blogspot is here.

i am in love with widgets on blogs, which is why for my personal blog(s) i use wordpress. it's a real pain in the ass to code templates for it, but once you widgetize an area, you can just drag and drop things on it and call it a day. new blogger lets you do this too, but since coding templates for it is even more annoying than wordpress somehow, i just tried to figure out how many simple blogger hacks i could combine for this template. i wanted to have it mimic a widgetized template as much as i could, and i think the fact that it looks very traditional might appeal to those who aren't into the navi thing.

info

- non-navigational

- comments enabled (they will be inline, only visible on the post page, unless you choose pop-up or disable them altogether)

- blog post author comments are styled differently than regular comments

- recent posts will appear with leading rotating icons in the sidebar

- recent comments list, with links to the comment author's website or profile (whatever they provided when leaving it) as well as a link to the page the comment appears on

- tag list*

- post titles are permalinks

- will look and function identically in all major browsers (tested in ie8, mff, chrome, safari, and opera)

- will look fine in the most common screen resolutions

- code is commented pretty clearly (i think!) so you can easily find and change whatever you're looking for.

* to get the tags list to work for your blog, you have to find and replace a few things. scroll down to where you find
src="http://www.blogger.com/feeds/05122933361560301346/blogs/3100999869432823489?alt=json-in-script&callback=listLabels
, and replace the first long string of numbers with the numbers you find in the url of your profile page, and the second long string of numbers with the ones you find in the url of the edit template page.

preview error, as usual. permanent live preview is here, and the temp live on blogspot is here.

this skin is meant to be customized, so if you hate the colors or the image, change them! just remember to leave the credit to me on the skin somewhere. ♥

i accidentally set my computer into high contrast mode the other day and thought the weird color combination was kind of cool, so i started working on this skin. it's going to be my last one for a couple of weeks since big bang is coming out in maple story next week! time to get my bishop to 200!!

info

- navi skin

- comments enabled (they will be inline, only visible on the post page, unless you choose pop-up or disable them altogether)

- next to post, random rotating icons in complementary colors. you can remove or change them if you want.

- blog post author comments are styled differently than regular comments

- post titles are permalinks

- space for cbox

- will look and function identically in all major browsers except ie (tested in ie8, mff, chrome, safari, and opera). in ie, the navi links tile vertically instead of horizontally.

- will look fine in the most common screen resolutions, but better in large ones (i'm 1680x1050)

- code is commented pretty clearly (i think!) so you can easily find and change whatever you're looking for.

info in profile section defaults to whatever you put in your blogger profile unless you change it. images are hosted at tinypic, but i would change that if i were you, since it can be a bit laggy. cbox should be no larger than 300w x 75h or it'll scroll and look like poopers.

of course there's a preview error, but it's the least horrible yet! permanent live preview is here; here is the temp live preview on blogspot.

please don't remove credits from this skin!! you can move them to a different section, but they should never be removed.

this skin took me far, far too long. sometimes i have an idea though, and i just have to see it all the way through to the end, even if it takes forever.

the idea came from seeing this skin, which i thought was super cool because it has moveable elements! then i thought, wouldn't it be cool to have each entry like a polaroid, and they create a pile that you can shuffle and move? when i realized that was way more of an investment than i wanted to make, i decided on the desk thing because that's always neat.

so here's what it does:

- you can pick up and move the post-it notes and the polaroid

- comments enabled

- post titles are permalinks

- will look and function identically in all major browsers EXCEPT IE, which doesn't show the shadow on the polaroid and has a small glitch with the positioning of the sideways text. (tested in ie8, mff, chrome, safari, and opera)

- will look fine in the most common screen resolutions

- code is commented pretty clearly (i think!) so you can easily find and change whatever you're looking for.

- ** the special font is loaded via an external stylesheet, so you can use it ANYWHERE on the page just by calling it, just like you would any other font! your computer doesn't actually have to download it - it's loaded IN the stylesheet - so it shouldn't take long to load and should show up for ALL browsers since it's only text.

TO USE THIS SKIN:

1. set your template style to old/classic, obviously

2. set your comments to popup

3. in settings ... formatting, set your posts to "1 post" on the main page

4. avoid using labels if you can

5. avoid long titles if you can

6. when writing a new post, place the code for your picture FIRST, then the words. pictures should be 500px by about 375px. smaller, it will look awkward. larger, it will scroll, which is super ugly.

ETA: totally forgot about the previews! since there's a preview error, here is the permanent live preview, and this is the temp live preview on blogspot.

this skin is totally experimental and by no means meant to be a work of art. i simply wanted to see if my idea was possible to execute! if you're interested in using the basecode, or if you think you can improve it or build on it, please please email me or message me to ask! i'm honestly really interested in what someone else might come up with. also, leave me comments, whatever they may be, so i can work on this and fix anything that may be broken. ♥

i loooooove the way this came out. super simple and clean! and i was totally inspired by murdertool's gorgeous template here.

you can change the header image to whatever you want. the header is credited in the credits area if you choose to keep it. the icon in the about me section will default to whatever your blogger icon is, but you can easily change that.

of course there's a preview error, but it's not as bad as the last :) permanent live preview is here; temp live preview on blogspot.

- you can add or remove whatever you want from the footer; its height will adjust with your content
