Erm, actually I think there's no difference if you use Mac / Windows, but more of the size of your monitor. (:
Resolutions that are smaller than the one used to make the skin in will definitely affect how it looks.

Hope it helps.

im using 1280x1024 screen resolution
which probably explains the cut off background in most skins i see =.=
i think many people use 1024x768? hmm, i dunno

Yes, if your resolution is different from the skin creator's, then the perspective of viewing is different.
I also think most people use 1024 x 768. I do, anyway. LOL.

Mine is a 1280 x 1024.
But I think many people use either 1024 x 768 or 800 x 600.

Desktops are usually 1024 X 768 if I'm not wrong.
There are many different screen resolutions.
I'm using 1280 X 800.

so the resolution of the screen is the size of the screen?

uhhh. the resolution is just the number of pixels across and down the screen right?
so i guess in a way it is the size of the screen, just measured using pixels -.-
so widescreen monitors will probably be 1280 by 800 or something and large screen monitors will be like inkSPLASH's and hurricanecat's.
and windows/mac is just the operating system of the computer. it doesn't affect screen resolution, which is affected by the design of the laptop/desktop.

according to the PCs i have come across so it may not be accurate.
common resolution would be : 1600 x 1200 , 1280 x 1024 , 1024x768 , 800 x 600 ( old pc )
common wide screen resolution : 1280 x 800
list of resolution available in the market.

dancingSHEEP, actually, no.
I use a laptop, so it's not really a large screen...
I agree with icecool, though.
