Pathway To LOVE }Little-Miss-Wendy

(WITHDRAWN)
Design
Not only have you chosen a very good image for the skin, but have you also creatively modified the image to portray your own originality and creativity. However, there are some minor blemishes around which spoils the visual appeal of the skin, such as the unprofessionally cut edges of the image, which tells me that you have paid insufficient attention to accuracy and precision. The phrase “follow me to the path of.. ..” slanted at an inaccurate angle also explains this. The word “LOVE”, which I think should be the point of emphasis in the skin, should be formatted with a more visually appealing style – perhaps bigger in size.
Layout & Content
The layout looks terrible in Mozilla Firefox due to, I believe, filters used in the codes which Mozilla Firefox do not support – the left section overlapping the right. Perhaps you could have made sure that skin is cross-browser compatible, especially in Mozilla Firefox, since more and more people are using it. As seen in Internet Explorer, the layout looks much better. Nonetheless, I think you should design the borders as a part of the skin image, rather than using borders made by codes, which look plain and lower the visual appeal of your skin. The text in the blockquote is invisible due to identical colors. As seen in Internet Explorer, I do see a shade of effort in choosing the right text colors for the skin. Some faults such as the invisibility of links in the blockquote due to identical colors and also the too-dark color of the post valediction are seen around, which adds to your unprofessionalism in the minor details of the skin.
Codes (43 errors by Validator)
Codes are simply terrible. Head tags are enclosed around the whole code with a body opening tag inside. Bad practice of tag closing (not closing tag in the reverse way of how tags are opened) is seen around. CSS styles are not gathered at one point, with one style at the end of the code. Inconsistency of codes is practised, with some values enclosed with quotes and some not. Lots of missing opening and closing tags are spotted around.
Visual Appeal
The image is very attractive by its creative (but not-so-professional) modifications. Visual appeal is lowered by minor blemishes around as mentioned. Visual appeal is also severely lowered due to cross-browser incompatibility.
Originality & Creativity
The only point of your skin that is worth praised of is creativity in the modification of the image. Do appreciate the high marks given here

All I can say – Simplicity is beauty. Good job on the photography aspect (I’m sure you took the pictures yourself?) – They are really gorgeous pictures. Accompanied with the text, it really makes the skin very meaningful, and most importantly beautiful too.
Layout & Content
The layout is excellent, so is the text. I love how you “mount” the post date onto the rectangular box where the post title appears – It is simply an awesome use of codes to make the skin look gorgeous in design, and even in layout and content. However, I think the blockquote looks a little dull. Perhaps the time could have been in a much lighter color too as the time looks over-emphasized in the skin. I also appreciate your classification of the archives into “By Post” and “By Month”.
Codes (12 errors by Validator)
Codes are not really very nicely done. No html closing tag, head closing tag and body closing tag. A number of missing opening tags should have been included. Inconsistency of codes is practised, with some tag elements capitalized.
Visual Appeal
It is totally elegant and attractive, except for some minor blemishes mentioned in second criterion.
Originality & Creativity
I appreciate your use of your own images in the skin.

Here is a very gorgeous and compact skin, modifying an image very creatively, overlapped with meaningful phrases and brushes. But I think the brushes could have been used more carefully as part of it has overlapped the ducks, which does not look very nice since blue and brown does not really match in this skin. Perhaps, your name should have been placed somewhere else too. I love the distinctly formatted phrases in the image.
Layout & Content
I see a simple yet beautiful layout and content, although there is a flaw where the content inside the left section has overstepped the border.
Codes (15 errors by Validator)
Javascript is found after html closing tag, which should have been placed between the head tags to fulfill a neat set of codes. Two head closing tags are spotted. Inconsistency of codes is practised, with some tag elements capitalized, and with some values enclosed with quotes and some not. Bad practice of tag closing (not closing tag in the reverse way of how tags are opened) is seen around. I do see that you used an ampersand (& for your name, but for your information, the ampersand, when used in HTML, signals the beginning of an entity, so try to use an entity for an ampersand.
Visual Appeal
Except some minor blemishes such as the brush overlapping the ducks, the whole skin is visually appealing and very attractive.
Originality & Creativity
I love how you cut the image so naturally.

This is a very gorgeous edited image. I love how the text is positioned. You have also used the brushes very professionally. Two points of the image I do not really like – your name, which is a major spoiler; also the light patch of straight line on the rightmost of the image, which you could have erased with a fading-edge eraser in Photoshop. Otherwise, the image is just awesome.
Layout & Content
Very good job on the formatting of the headers, it certainly suits the theme of image a lot. I can see that there is a white backing beside all the links, which seem to overlap the text above them, perhaps you should have removed the backing. The links in the blockquote look weird, apart from its hover. Otherwise, the layout and content is certainly beautiful.
Codes (10 errors by Validator)
Meta tags are seen before the html opening tag. An omission of div closing tag is spotted. Codes are generally acceptable.
Visual Appeal
It is absolutely attractive, except some minor blemishes around such as your name, overlapping of links’ backing and also the light patch of straight line.
Originality & Creativity
I love how the phrase “As I watch the snowflakes fall” is positioned to convey the meaning of “fall” furthermore. Awesome use of codes to make the layout and content match the theme.

Goodness, wow, this is indescribably splendid. What a splendid image and splendid modification. Brushes are awesomely used. I just feel that the protruding rectangle from the image looks awkward and meaningless, it is a nice way of improving your image though.
Layout & Content
I would like to congratulate you for making use of the same colors used in the image for the layout and content. Some padding should be applied around the borders of the content though, especially the blockquote.
Codes (15 errors by Validator)
There is an excessive use of div closing tags. Do code your comments properly with two dashes instead of three dashes too. CSS styles should have been gathered at one point without opening so many style tags to fulfill a neat set of codes. No head closing tag and body tags are found, yet a head opening tag is found.
Visual Appeal
Certainly, it’s attractive.
Originality & Creativity
As mentioned, I love how you make use of brushes and the image.

I caught a lot of codes with a bad use of the "p" tag (paragraph). The p tag should only be used to create paragraphs, not blank lines to create space. So I see in some codes with the repeated use of "p" tag to create space, which is a bad practice, although it doesn't create problems. =D
And please don't expect me to err, like you know, report every mistake on your code because I ain't that observant. And for your information, I use the Validator to only help me, I don't depend on it to find every mistake.
Yep just erm telling you guys. Making it red and big cuz I don't want skinners to miss this notice while they rush to see their comments below in future hahahahaa

The whole skin looks quite plain to me with a plain white background, perhaps you could have used a suitable patterned background to make the skin look nicer on the whole. I appreciate your effort to not make the original image look so angled by applying brushes around it, but with further observation I still could make out the original parameter of the image, that shows that the brush job should have been improved. Well done on the cross.
Layout & Content
I appreciate your effort of choosing the same colors used in the image, however those colors – blue and yellow – when used together, look really awkward to me, since I had to strain my eyes a little to make out the text, especially the headers. The links, in my opinion, should have been in another darker color. The blockquote looks a little weird to me.
Codes (8 errors by Validator)
Fairly good job on the codes, as compared to previous entries, although I see a value without any quotes enclosure. I also see that you use a full meta tag (with the space, slash and right angle bracket at the end) and also another empty meta tag (without the space, slash and right angle bracket at the end). I understand that the former is of strict XHTML, but with two of these used in the common set of codes – it shows inconsistency. I caught an unusual sight of “u, u” for one of the styles there, eh?
Visual Appeal
It could have been very attractive with a background and better choice of colors.
Originality & Creativity
I would like to congratulate you on making use of the brushes to show us the effort to make the image look more creative and original with a touch of your own skills. As mentioned, the cross is really creative.

Whoa, whoa, whoa – this is gorgeous with proficient use of brushes and images. I cannot pick on you for any flaw in the skin, really. This is much better than the other entry of yours.
Layout & Content
I was a little disappointed once I saw the layout, which is just too simple to fit in with the intricate design as a skin! The layout should have been part of the design, instead of being part of the codes.
Codes (14 errors by Validator)
Similar problems from the other entry show up here. Guess I don’t have to repeat them. I see that you used the ampersand (& sign a lot for stating where you have tested the page (that is why you get a lot of errors in the Validator). For your information, ampersands are symbols that start HTML entities, so if you would like to use it – either use “and” or use the entity for the symbol, haha. Otherwise, I think your codes are quite nicely done on the whole, if I were to not pick on the small details x_x
Visual Appeal
Certainly the design really attracts my attention, but the layout took it all away back.
Originality & Creativity
The brushwork is awesome, that’s all I can say for the design.

Another tip to be a more professional coder hehes. Use HTML entities to type the ampersand out in the codes, although it doesn't create problems without doing so. It is:
& amp; without the spacee
And just to let you know that the originality and creativity part is a reeeall giveaway. don't be surprised getting full marks of it from me

eh darkdegree, you kidding. i am sorry. i can't accept your new set of codes. As I have said, you have to modify everything if necessary by the deadline. And the deadline's over. Now the codes I have on hand will be subject to judgment.

Unfortunately I see a lot of submissions with inexact credits. I cannot disqualify all of these should-be-disqualified skins because we are really short of submissions. So I just wanna let the skinners' of all the submissions to take note of the credits. *You have to link straight to the place where you got the picture from, not the homepage of the website you got the picture from. Places like the stockxchg consist of photos from a lot of photographers, so crediting the site doesn't make sense, it's just like crediting Google for helping you in searching for images, not getting the images.

Design
This skin is indeed spectacular and magnificent. But to name this a pathway to Heaven, then the image is either not really suitable, or some parts of the image used should be removed. Distractions like the flag, the lions, the signposts and a patch of concrete buildings in the background, do not make the image look like a pathway to Heaven. Nonetheless, incredible brushwork.
Layout & Content
Impeccably beautiful. I love how the link becomes a brighter color for its hover, it is like lighting up something.
Codes (22 errors by Validator)
Very great inconsistency of codes, with some tag elements capitalized and some not, with some values enclosed with quotes and some not. All CSS styles should have been gathered at one point to bring about neatness of codes. Script is seen at the end of the code. One or some tags are not closed.
Visual Appeal
Needless to say~ It’s, whoo, gorgeous.

The whole skin does look very good due to a good choice of colors and background, there goes my congratulation to you. However, it is way too simple to show off your skills. Perhaps, more should be done to the phrase in the image especially. Otherwise, unless you choose to retain the simplicity of the skin, you could have done some brush job and blending with the surroundings. You could have referred to the wing of the planes in the phrase because without such reference, the wing of the plane looks very redundant. Nevertheless, miraculously the skin still looks quite nice, maybe due to the magnificent picture. Count yourself lucky for the good choice of picture =D
Layout & Content
I think the font used for the headers is really cool, but on second thought, perhaps it is not very suitable in such skin since the font looks very digital. Some padding should be applied in the blockquote around the text. In my humble opinion, the backing of the link could have been removed because it looks awkward in the blockquote. Otherwise, the layout is quite fine in overall.
Codes (7 errors by Validator)
Codes are generally well done, I guess you have thank partly detonatedlove for such wonderfully made codes. However, there are still some mistakes such as certain omissions of opening tags and also inconsistency – where some of the br tags are of XHTML format and others in HTML. However, the br tag in XHTML is not typed with a left angle bracket, the element br, a slash and lastly followed by a right angle bracket. A proper full br tag in strict XHTML has a space between the element br and the slash. Actually, I would rather remove the use of XHTML br tags since I do not see the use of XHTML img tags, as doing so reflects another inconsistency.
Visual Appeal
If you have improved the image, especially the meaningful phrase embedded on it, I believe the skin would be more visually appealing.
Originality & Creativity
I do not see any impressive originality and creativity, unfortunately, partly because of the simplicity of the skin. I believe simplicity still can exude points of originality and creativity, I hope you can accomplish that miracle one day!
