Umm... I was in Blogskins for about 1.5 years.
In which half of the time there I was inactive (never visit).
Since all of you said that Blogskins has really changed?
How has it?

I THINK IT HAS CHANGE ALOT.
URM... SKIN STYLES HAVE CHANGED TO MORE ADVANCED CODES AND MORE.
AND LIKE NOE THERE ARE PREVIEW ERRORS?

the skins now are nicer than the older blogskins (no offense)
uh, i can't think of anything else positive.
ohyeah, the design of some of the skins now are pretty unique

LOL oh well.
Blogskins has changed alot.
Of course, the new template and all. Hahah.
In terms of design, I think the blogskins now is more receptive to simple skins (like lt's/pullthetrigger's), and there are many rad newfound skinners, hahah, especially in drawing, vectoring, animation and so on. As you know, Xavqior. And there are less users who are solely commentors. There used to be simplicity* and all that.
To me, the sotd has not changed a bit. Its just that blogskin's standard is so much higher than only a couple of years ago, like in 2005.

they are awesome too.
some even better than the ones we have now.
people have changed. skin styles have changed. the attitudes and personalities we have here have changed. for better or for worse i leave you to decide
but mainly. everything changed after the BS war.
don't know if any of you knew about it.

yes war 1. the war with illusionation, xiaoping, esther, lionheart, and lots of others involved. i was there more of a sideviewer, kind of like random commenter, but yea. After which SOTD quality dropped quite a few notches with all of them leaving entirely, mainly after their O lvls.

yes. it isn't the layout.
it isn't the features.
it is the users.
alot of good users have left. though there are some good ones these days.
the standard on average dropped.
with most of the users these days using box/repeated base codes layout.
btw. some parts of the war may be missing with maple cake's account delete(llulz)
but yea war killed alot of skinners.

well graphics DID get better... if you guys really realize :/ maybe because photoshop features have make stuff work more wonders?
however theres still alot of things nowadays skinners have to learn from them :/ skinners last time put in a lot of effort. And that amount of effort doesn't all the time get you 5stars... -_-" i use to have a favorite skinner last time and i don't recall he/she ever gets a 5stars streak... so yea ratings wise... 4.5 star and above is considered good skin and maybe now skin with 5 stars doesn't mean its good?
and those wars -_-" i wasn't even enlightened with whats going around then lols but hey i didn't even know what is SOTD until after i submit my 3rd / 4th skin? We have to move on... maybe we should really stop talking bout old skinners and old skinners : /. After all we are the one with more advance technology... wider choice of html and all... we should aim for a better and higher? Don't let old skinners come back to us and laugh at SOTD quality nowadays... :/
And eh.... people last time prefer fanciful skins and nowadays more people prefer simpler skin? Maybe i am wrong but i do prefer simpler skin myself [: although i like to make fanciful skin lols.

I've been around blogskins for quite some time but I guess I've missed out a lot of things in between before I decided to return with a new account. This place has definitely changed a lot. If you're talking about the people we have, it hasn't become for the worse or better. Actually, it's still the same, just that maybe random black sheep will lurk around now and then.
And the trends have definitely evolved a lot more. Now we have all those lj and simple nice layouts everywhere. It's rampant. We can't determine what's the next trend gonna be until it happens. And nowadays, I gotta agree that everyone has been pretty active in the forums, or maybe it is just me. I've never really found myself visiting the forum as frequent as I do now as compared to in the past.
Regarding the SOTD issue, I believe everyone wants one. It's like a prize, or an honour to own the title. For those who haven't gotten SOTD before, they'll probably try all ways to get it. It's fine, as long as your skin is really up to standard, no one will complain. But eventually, the title will come to you when you deserve it and you don't have to try all ways to get it. SOTD may be quite superficial, but it's something that can motivate you to make better skins too.
But whether SOTD or not, the most important thing is to be satisfied with your work. It's your pride and effort. If you didn't get the title, be it due to lack of luck or popularity, don't fret. All the skinners here who achieved SOTDs went through the same phase too, didn't they?
And we should try to be kinder to each other, encourage instead of discourage. Just my two cents worth here.
(Sorry for the long wall of damage x100. I am having insomnia.)

In Blogskins for 3 years. *grins* I used to crap with LEK, Huiwen, JENNIE (!!!) and many, MANY other Blogskinners in the forums. Sadly, most of them have left Blogskins... And I'm the only one left here. -.-ll Dotzx.
And may I ask, where the hell are teh great blogskinners such as heroine and AMBIVALENT?!

I think that while some of the skinners were really good, judging from what I read, their attitudes are not exactly the greatest. Reading that whole forum post and its replies makes me feel like I'm watching this exaggerated drama.
Like, first of all, I don't see what's wrong with using multiple accounts. And if they managed to achieve an SOTD, then well and good. What's the problem with that?
Please. We all have our flaws, and not all our skins can be top-notch. I just see no reason to point it out in such a horrible way. A "you can do better" or "not bad" would be enough to give the person a gist of how you feel about their skin without really hurting them. It's just like the other thread, where Hilary has a link to a blog where someone critisized her skins openly.
Anyway, I just hope there are no more wars here. I've been active in the forums mostly, and I don't have a burning hatred for any of you, lol. I think of all of you as my friends, so if such a situation came up again, I would go on a hiatus and come back two months later. It's not running away; I'm just refusing to take part in such a meaningless argument with countless vulgarities and proofless blame.
Okay. I just read the other two wars, the ones involving paperlove. I've seriously never thought of blogskins as such a shallow place. It kinda scares me.
So, to Hilary's post, this is what I say: Blogskins has definitely changed. Maybe not the site itself, but the users. The harsh, old users have left, and we have new users who are more careful with their words -- this helps all of us. Makes our lives easier.
And the skins themselves are better, with a wider variety to choose from. I'm sure the old skinners put in as much effort as all of us do now, but, I don't know, I prefer the blogskins now.
Sorry if you took too long to read. Just thought I should write down all of that.
