I am wondering what kind of Anti-Virus softwares y'all use... 
Norton AntiVirus? Norton Internet Security McAfee? Windows Defender?
And do you all find them very irritating, ESPECIALLY NORTON INTERNET SECURITY
Get the taste of it, and it'll make you resort to disabling it everytime you surf the web and are sure you won't receive any virus.
It gives you LOTS of pop ups, asking you whether you want to allow this ActiveX control or block it. Fine, I allow. Guess what, the pop up comes again, hmph I still want to allow.
Okay this time it comes again, FINE I'LL BLOCK IT. Oh, and yes no more pop ups. =__=
I remembered checking box to use this decision everytime yet it is too dumb to understand the choice that is given to me.
Oh and, do you all know of any free yet RELIABLE anti-virus software? Anti-Virus softwares are like super expensive and you have to renew when it expires, like what-the-spoon. They must be earning bombs.
You know sometimes Anti-Virus softwares can be very cunning - When it detects a virus after it expires, IT WILL SAY YOU MUST RENEW IT BEFORE IT CAN TREAT THE VIRUS. Lol it's like they're working for money.
Oh and when you get a virus, it gets superbly hyper. The red pop ups will pop up repeatedly and when you press OK, another comes in. So you just gotta restart =_=

I use AVG free edition.
Ever since it was installed, I don't recall getting any virus.
And yes, the Norton Internet Security on my other com is annoying like heck

I use AVG it scans files(:
Its free so I guess its quite good
But I dont recommend if you play online games cos it will start the scan when you turn on your computer
then Half way there'll be a notice notifying you that theres no virus

I use AVG too, I do agree that Norton is annoying.
AVG updates frequently, sometimes I find it annoying too, but not as annoying as norton. Plus, it's free. 
McAfee is good too, I think. But it's not free. :/

yeah its kinda irritating, but since it keeps viruses away i dont mind(:

i dint use it. too annoying. everytime i start com it bugs at me. and i tot antivirus doesn't help. i still got virus in my other com. so well, stopped using it cas it sucks.
and my dad says viruses are created by those antiviruses company. makes sense? no? well they wanna earn their money.

i remove it.
i use AVG. cause i no money to buy. lol.

LOL Angelyn... It makes quite a little bit of sense. ._. I don't know. But I don't think what your dad said is credible at all haha.

I see that lots of people use AVG here... Heard of it. Is it really reliable?
Does it give real-time protection (i.e. it gives you a pop up once it detects a virus) ?

ya, it's free and good I think.
Oh by the way, I love McAfee site advisor! It's not a anti-virus program, it's more like a plug-in. Go google is you feel interested, free of charge as well. LOL

I use Symantec [I love RP] for antivirus.
As for spyware/adware I use Spybot.

Lets look at it this way.
Lets assume u would like to put $10 in a safe, would you buy a $100 safe just to keep that $10 safe?
In the computer stand point, if you computer's information is regularly backed up on a harddisk and u do not enter confidential information into the computer, would it be cost effective to purchase an anti virus that costs more than the data is worth?
Its simply not cost effective.
Protect your computers from virus with common sense.
Use AVG Free =).
Spybot is good, but i prefer Lavasoft's adaware.
If you need a firewall, zonealarm is free.
Microsoft office too expensive? Use OpenOffice.
Theres a cheaper alternative to everything.

I am using Comodo AntiVirus
its totally free, check it out also haha

And why do people even create virus? -_- Waste time siah. Not only waste our time. Unless they xing zai le huo or whatever it is...

In world of IT (or wtv you call it),
most software/or any other -ware free is crap IMO.
