Just during assembly today, we had some short of study skills workshop.
This coach came to share with us a story.
He was at Bangkok to visit a friend who is a missionary at a village in a poor condition.
After they met up, they were walking down a street when they saw a 14 year old boy selling syrup drinks.
The coach asked," Isn't that one of your students?"
And his friend said," Yes."
They approached the boy and as the coach did not know their native language, he asked his friend why was he selling drinks. His friend then asked the boy.
"He needs money to provide education for both him and his brother."
Being any ambitious Singaporean, he asked for the boy's ambition when he grew up, expecting a great one from him, but all he said was to work in the city.
The coach was surprised and asked him why his dream was so small.
And all he got was 'because i just want to have enough money to support my family so that my 16 year old sister can stop being a prostitute.'
After hearing that, the coach took out some money for the boy. However, the boy merely closed his hand and said,"I only need you to pray for me that i will be successful one day."
How many of us actually can do that, have the spirit and hunger to succeed.
I hope this story can actually motivate you guys out there, to work harder and strive for the best.
No matter how deep your problems are, think again, are they the worst in the world?
