Well the level of intelligence, I must sadly say, has significantly dropped since I last visited this site. On the bright side at least 1% of the designers on this site has now shown some sign of having discovered Photoshop. Congratulations.
1) Just because your layout features a model and several repeating images does not mean that it is good.
Sorry but there are such things as crappy model repeating layouts. In fact, I've seen a good dozen just browsing through the so-called 'Top 15 Rated.' Again, it's not how blatantly sexy and undeniably flatchested Gemma Ward is that carries the layout but actual elements of design: composition, colour, value, shape, space, pragmatism.
2) Don't use words that you don't know the meaning of.
I don't care if no one else knows the meaning of the word either, but if you don't know it yourself then you're just a triple loser. Congratulations you fail at life. Spell words correctly. No one wants to use something made by an illiterate cunt.
Words of eternal wisdom.
3) There is such a thing as overbrushing.
Hard to believe but true. Throwing a bunch of brushes over a picture of Daniel Radcliff or Jay Chou or whoever people like you worship these days does not equal cool or good design. It means you don't know what you're doing. There is such a thing as good design with brushes and there is such a thing as good design without brushes. Using brushes doesn't mean that you're a better designer. It means that you've got more time on your hands to download a shitload of brushes and make a potentially shitty layout.
4) Credit.
Crediting and safe sex go hand in hand. Just do it.
5) Typography counts.
Choosing the right font to use on a graphic could possibly make or break a layout. Choose wisely. Type placement is similarly important. Place it in a position that is compositionally logical.
6) Stop taking it so seriously.
Serious = you're making 50 USD an hour making layouts
Not serious = you're making layouts for blogskins.
Get it?

I'm saying that just because you have flatchested models and repeating images with brushes does not mean you have a good layout. A good layout is much more than fitting a trend. It requires good compositional elements.

i agree.. nt all skins wif designers (plus a few brushes here and there) is that great.
