Well, I'm not gonna say I'm pro in these or anything o.o .. But I will only make skins when I feel like it. If I feel angry, I would probably make a grungy layout which fits my mood, if I'm sad, I'll make a lovey dovey one, one with zen'ed colours. If I'm happy, I'd probably make a cute one.
Skin making is practically onto your mood, if you make one that does not fit, it would turn out horribly.

My layouts always make me moody after 2-3 looks of it upon completing.
Shows that, I'm never satisfied.
I only do skins when I feel like it, thus I don't do custom. I'm always looking for a skin that'll turn out good TO ME, but they never do. Even if my mood is good or bad, all my skins would make me upset after awhile. It's difficult when passion clashes with the need for perfection as well.
