Are you too poor for all the top of the line image programs like me (hehe)? Try The GIMP at http://www.gimp.org. It's a free, open-source image proggie that totally rocks. You can do brushes and everything else like PSP, etc, but I think it's even more simple to use. You can do fractals and everything with it. DeviantART has brushes and patterns for it, too. Thought all the fledgeling blogmakers like myself should know.

That's an excellent suggestion! I've never used gimp myself, but I've seen the screenshots and they look impressive.

Yeah, it's pretty good... I do a lot of my dev art with gimp and Apophysis.
