NOTE: THIS TUTORIALS ONLY TEACHES YOU SOME TECHNIQUES TO MAKE THE IMAGE, NOT CODING!! Desaturate). Move the Desaturated one to the left a bit, so you can just see it poking out.
7. If you want it to have a edgy background, find a texture (Hybrid-genesis.net) and paste it just after the layer with your desired background color.
8. Now, add in your text. Ctrl+Shift+E to Merge Layers, and crop your image out. DONE!
8 Step Collage! Remember, no matter what skin you are making, it's best to keep the document size to 800x800, then crop it later on. You might need more space than you think.

Here is a Splat tutorial:
1. Find some splat brushes and use them on a 800x800 document. You can add Layer Styles, blending options etc. You can also make more splats.
2. Fill in your background color before the splatty layer.
3. I like to use PSDs for splat layouts. Find a PSD and you might want to do some Icon Effects (outspoken-kate.com) on it, or spice it up. Then paste it onto your 800x800.
4. You can add Layer styles to the PSD too, and duplicate it, desaturate it, etc.
5. Add in your text. Ctrl+Shift+E and crop it out. DONE!

Err you have to buy it for the full version. But if you want it for free it's only a trial. So if you don't have the money for Photoshop, get GIMP, PhotoPlus or something like that.

Is GIMP troublesome? I had GIMP and it's lagging and takes so long to load .

Use Gimp and u can do the same,free program :S...
Tho photoshop is so much better :S
