I know a few sites (that aren't huge)that have the option to play music. Anyone know how to go about doing this?

Well, anyone can have music on their sites, but first you have to be able to host the music file on your server. If you can't host it on your own, there's a few sites that offer music for free, like http://www.powerwebmusic.com that would be an alternative. They upload music files on their server, you browse through their music files and see if theres a song you like.

They provide you with the code for that specific song, so you woudn't have a problem there, but its always good to understand the code for when you want to change the song, etc.

Also, if you just copy the code and use that on your blog, you'd end up with music on your site, but with NO options (to turn the music off, pause it, play) for your visitors.

See, sometimes people don't like music on sites, if they visit your site and music is playing, they might not like it and leave. You always want your visitors to have the option to stop, pause, or play the music.

So here's an example of a music code.

Music by:

EXPLANATION OF THE CODE
"embed src" is telling your browser where to get the music from.

"width and height" is the size you give to the console (the little box that will appear on your site, with the play and stop buttons). By puttin height="0" and width="2" you will be hiding this console, but again.. you dont want to do that because visitors will not be able to stop the music from playin if they wanted to.

autostart="true" make music begin playing automatically when someone visits your page. If you put "false" instead, the music will ONLY start playing when the play button is pressed.

Loop="true" will keep the music playing until the stop button is pressed. "False" will stop playing the music after it has played only ONCE.

Tip: Put the music code at the bottom of your page so it doesn't slow down the load time for your text and graphics (if any). That way visitors can be viewing your pages as your music file is still loading.

I recommend you use the sizes width="70" and height="26" but you can use the size you want, that's just what I use and have found more adequate.
