In Photoshop, Overlap the pictures by a bit. Use erasers with fading edge. I always use 100 for large images. For such large brushes it's good that you erase from a bit further from the edge of the image.
Erase the edges of the image. Blending provides best effects when the image are of same main colors. Yep.

God, if you have photoshop, use the feather function. Don't bother erasing, it just idles your life away, bit by bit.
