Um, are we allowed to use the blogskins that are here? sorry, i'm new to this thing. if we can use them for our own blog, how can we save it or whatever?

Yes, you're allowed to use it, but you have to keep the credits intact 
And you can download the codes by clicking the button 'Blogger Main" on the page of your desired blogskin layout. They'll call you to save it or open it, both ways are alright.
A notepad with the codes will pop out and you can just copy everything into your blogger's templates.
