I love BlogSkins because of the quality and variety of the skins available here. But actually finding the right one is very difficult, because of the design of the browsing interface. These changes would make it much, much easier for me (I can't speak for anyone else):
1. First of all, skin thumbnails are sorely needed. When I'm hunting for a new template, the most important thing is how it looks. I don't really care about the title or who created it, and verbal descriptions of it don't help me. I need to SEE it. So what would help me the most would be a page containing nothing but thumbnails showing what each skin looks like, with the title underneath each. Clicking the thumbnail would show me a fullscreen sample blog using that skin; clicking the title would take me to the standard BlogSkins page for that skin, where I could download it. A thumbnail catalog like this would save me HOURS.
2. As other folks have pointed out, it's major pain that the only way to browse skins is alphabetically, 15 skins at a time. An alphabetic index is desperately needed -- the sort that lets you click on the letter W to go directly to skins whose titles begin with W.
3. It would be even nicer if we could come up with a set of categories for skins and create browsable indexes for each category. Exactly what the categories would be is up to the BlogSkins community, but I'm sure we can come up with something.
4. When I'm skin-browsing, I often don't know what I'm looking for, but I will recognize it when I see it. In that state of mind, what I really want is a button that will randomly select a skin and show me a sample blog using it. At the bottom of the sample would be the same button, so I can just keep clicking it to view one random skin after another. To really make me happy, you could also provide a checkbox labeled "Mark as favorite." When I see a skin I like, I'll mark it and keep browsing. After I'm done browsing, show me a page of thumbnails for my favorite skins, so I can choose the best one. It would be especially cool if these favorites were remembered the next time I log on, like an Amazon.com wishlist.
Yeah, I know -- I'm asking for an awful lot. Feel free to tell me that these things are impossible or unreasonable. But I can dream, can't I?

wow. that would take FOREVER to do! lol all good ideas, except for the category one....things are VERY VERY hard to categorize.......just like people.

They all sound great...but #1 would take forever! Yes, these are very difficult skins to categorize...perhaps by color? No, that's difficult, too. Well, if that were possible, that would be the greatest idea ever.
