This type of layout is very very very VERY common on blogskins.com, and you would stand out a lot more if you tried moving away from the boxy, little-edited, gettyimages.com layouts. I can tell that you have potential, but you're not really showing very much of it by doing what so many people are already doing. Aside from that, you need to increase your image quality and integrate your image more into your layout. This helps the eye move throughout the layout, which is what you want, because the eye is mostly drawn to the image right now, which leads to inbalance of the layout.
