Agreeing with xdeadgekkie... the image would come out better if the checkered pattern was lighter. The text is a bit plain compared to the pic... so you can probably use more colors with the links, headers and stuff.

For me it's too simple... You can probably put in a background color or something, and use a few greens in the text as well.
