i don't think the scratchy background fits - you know the whole idea is about cute spongebob-ness, and then there's this out-of-the-blue background, maybe you could change it to something else.
and yes, the cursor is irritating.

this is nice, but the font for "give me a memory" is sort of unsuited to the rest of the image/skin. but it's really nice

I think it doesn't really give the idea of "vintage", but more of retro. the image is too big like you said, and the blue speech bubble is kind of unneeded.
