But the header should be of a darker colour.
That way, the whole layout can be balanced out.

I love the CSS.
And here's a suggestion,
why don't you remove the border around the image, and add another border of the same color as the text area's, and then move the image closer to the text areas so that it looks like the whole thing is "stuck" together, if you get what I mean?
