Wow...

First of all, 'pieces of meg' is not flattering regardless of whether or not it was the name of your blog. The typography of those words is just unflattering to the layout overall. Also, the top image is too square and I don't understand why you would make the textareas actually narrower than the top image. That makes very little compositional sense.

Compositionally speaking, the eye is more easy on compositions that are 1) boxy throughout if boxy at all at the same width or 2) have a bottom that is larger than a top to provide a larger support base and to create an inverted V compositional shape.

yes, very square.. blends the image and the boxes a bit more. you're one of the top designers, in my book, so i'm sure you can do it. it's still excellent though..
